This kid has given us a run for our money this month. Bronchiolitis, recurrent ear infections, and now we are battling thrush. My poor kiddo. Otherwise, he’s been great. Even through all the sickness, he’s been a champ. No sleepless nights, no fits, he’s just been his normal happy little self. And he’s getting so dang big, I know I say that every month, but he really is. He’s SO long! Most of his clothes are too short on him! He’s such a happy little stinker and we love him SO much!
Weight: 22 lbs 3 oz
Doctor Appt: We were out looking at a house one night when Ford started to do this weird cough, sounded kind of raspy. I took him in the next morning and he was diagnosed with Bronchiolitis and an ear infection. So we got to stay home for a few days, got an antibiotic (which tore up his tummy & later caused thrush) and more breathing treatments. When he finished his antibiotic he got thrush, luckily I was able to text his Dr some pics of his mouth and avoided an office visit. But a few days later he was still pulling at his ears so I figured I’d be safe and take him in to make sure his ears were better – - – and he had another ear infection! GOSH! The Dr isn’t sure his first ear infection cleared up completely or if he just got another infection. Another antibiotic and more thrush meds. We’re 2 weeks in to the thrush meds and we just got another refill because it’s STILL not freakin’ gone. I’m hoping we have a great 9 month check up next month. And really hoping we avoid having to get ear tubes!
Nicknames: Baby Ford, Bubbie, Bub, Bubba, Fordy, Mr. Ford.
Eating: He’s doing great! This dude loves to eat. He’s taking 5 bottles (sometimes 6) 6oz bottles and 2-3 “meals” a day. He gets 2 jars of food at daycare, plus some cereal & puffs, and usually a dinner meal with us at home, usually a protein/veggie mix with some extra fruit or veggies. He’s starting to drink out of a sippy cup. Right now we are using the Take n’ Toss cups and he’s doing great. This is the type of cup they use at his daycare so it works great. I have tried our other sippy cup with a straw, but he still hasn’t figured out how to suck out of it. LOL.
Sleeping: We are incredibly lucky. Ford is such a good sleeper. We start our bedtime routine at 8 with a bath, then we read a book (usually) and he gets a bottle. He’s usually asleep between 8:30 and 9, and won’t wake up until 6:15/6:30, occasionally 7. Even with all the ear infection crap – he still slept through the night. He’s amazing.
Diapers: Moved up to Huggies Size 4. He was having a lot of blowouts ( I think due to his antibiotic), so I went up a size a little early. But they are working great.
Clothing: Ford is HUGE. Most of his 9 month stuff doesn’t even fit him anymore, onesie’s are too short and his pants turn into capris. He’s in mostly 12 month stuff, and a few 18 month items. Some 6-12 month stuff still fits him.
Social/Milestones: He’s a social butterfly. When I drop him off at daycare he reaches for his teacher. (it’s adorable, really, and it makes me feel better about leaving him), he plays well with the other babes at daycare. He’s getting really close to crawling. He gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth, will push backwards and rotate in circles on his belly, but is still working on going forward. And his other bottom tooth is in!
Likes: Anything that makes noise. He’s loving his activity table (we only have 2 legs on it, so it sits at an angle). He got a little flashlight toy that lights up and sings for Easter from Grandpa Drew (Diz’s dad) and he LOVES it. He loves bath time and is starting to try to pull up on the sides of the tub.
Dislikes: He gets a little fussy when we leave the room that he’s in (usually in the afternoon/evening) – so I think it’s more tiredness rather than separation anxiety.
Momma: I started back at WeightWatchers this month. (remember when I got all high & mighty and told them I didn’t need them anymore? pfft. I lied.) But I’m off to a great start and have lost 7.8 pounds already. I’ve been running more (and ran my first post-baby half marathon last weekend!) and am looking forward to getting back to CrossFit. I gotta get my butt in shape for Josh & Jen’s wedding in August – I’m going to be a bridesmaid! (Obviously I want to lose weight and be healthy for Ford, but I also want to look good in wedding photos, duh.)
Daddy: Diz has been working his tail off. He’s had a few side projects and been helping his Momma out with some projects at her house. I love the way Ford lights up when he sees his Daddy. They are two peas in a pod, they watch cartoons in the morning (Sofia the First, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Jake & the Neverland Pirates) – it’s really quite adorable. And Diz is great about getting up with Ford in the morning if I’m running (or running late, ha!).
Fun things we did: Spent Easter with Grandpa Drew & Annette, Moved into my parent’s basement, lots of snuggles with Grandma Pam & Grandpa Steve.
What we’re looking forward to: Finding a DANG house, Josh & Jen’s wedding (Ford is going to be the ring bearer) in August, 2 more half marathons this summer,
